Working with children and getting to experience their imagination and vibrancy firsthand has always brought Dr. Blackwelder great joy. He says that watching a child learn, grow, and overcome something challenging are a few of the greatest things in the world. He looks forward to getting to know your child and putting them on the path toward a lifetime of optimal oral health. Before that, you can start getting to know him below. Dr. Blackwelder is currently serving a mission for 3 years for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lisbon Portugal
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Blackwelder started his college career at Brigham Young University, and he went on to graduate from the Baylor College of Dentistry. He then completed his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Iowa, earning a Master of Science in Dental Public Health at the same time.
He is a board-certified pediatric dentist, and to stay on top of the latest advancements in dentistry, he is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (Fellowship status).
What Do You Like to Do Outside of the Office?
Dr. Blackwelder and his wife, Genevieve, have six wonderful children that take up most of their time. When he can, he likes to participate in outdoor activities like fishing and mountain climbing, and he also tries to frequently volunteer for humanitarian efforts.
